Rwanda Coding Academy (RCA), is special model school that has been conceived by the Government of Rwanda and initiated by partner institutions composed of Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), Ministry of ICT and Innovation (MINICT), Rwanda Polytechnic (RP), Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), Rwanda Education Board (REB) and Workforce Development Authority (WDA). Rwanda Coding Academy was built in line with the National Strategy for Transformation. Rwanda has embarked on building a knowledge based economy, through promoting science and technology.
The mission of Rwanda coding academy is to train young talented and gifted Rwandans in software programing, promote quality and excellence in coding skills and to position Rwanda as software development talent hub. After the 3-year course, students will be qualified as software engineers and will have adequate skills to be absorbed into the job market.
This is the first school of such kind in Rwanda which is in line with government vision to become based knowledge economy country. Technical skills play a big role in building the economy that provides opportunities especially for youth to get jobs or create new jobs. The school is located in Western Province due to the region’s favorable education environment – away from the distractions and a temperate climate.
